Can I only get one room sanded and then sand the rest of the floors at a later date?

It depends on the way the floor has been laid originally. If there is a “cut off” point in a doorway, then it is possible. The boards need to be running across the doorway (horizontally). There will also be a colour difference between the old and new sanded and polished timber floors.
